One afternoon I came home feeling completely despondent. I trudged my way up to the house from the car, my eyes fixated on the ground one or two feet in front of me. I didn’t notice my neighbor waving to say hello and ask me about my mother. For a while, I knew that my mother was having health issues. The phone number for the agency flashed across the screen and I felt a sudden wave of relief come over me. I still didn’t know if we could afford it, but there was a solution and it was just a phone call away.
While I didn’t hire that particular agency, I did discover that help has always been that one phone call away. I would tell anybody who has an elderly loved one who may be struggling with their basic care at home to pick up the phone or go online and determine what type of services are available in the area and then what type of help your loved one needs.
